Service Description

This is a 10-week course designed to provide your 10th or 11th grade student with expert advice and intentional community for completing college and scholarship applications. Individually and in a small group of their peers, students will be given tips and techniques to make this process less daunting and receive valuable, detailed feedback on essays. Parents must schedule a discovery call and students must submit a consulting profile form and transcript before registering for this course. This course is ideal for someone who has already done a "Prep Check" with Ms. Okrah and is eager to move on to the next level. Session 1: Personal Branding/ Career Clarification (This is an individual session with Ms. Okrah on February 15. The group sessions start the following week.) Session 2: Financial Literacy/ Document Development/Time Management Session 3: Strategies for Researching Colleges and Merit Scholarships/Shortlist Development Exercises Session 4: Personal Statement Development - Review of Common App Prompts and Sample Essay/Shortlist Development 2 Session 5: Supplemental Essays 3/ Personal Statement 2/ Goals and Gaps/ College Visits Session 6: Common App Prep/ Test Prep Overview and Resources Session 7: Scholarship Search and Financial Aid 101 (Students and Parents) Session 8: Work Session for Presentation of Portfolio for Parents (Students) Session 9: Presentation of Portfolio for Parents (Students and Parents) (I am allotting 10 weeks in case there is a need/desire to spend more time on a given topic.)
